BISSELL Spotlifter Powerbrush Handheld Deep Cleaner, 1716B

Bissell Spotlifter Powerbrush Handheld Deep Cleaner - the quickest way to clean spots and spills

Amazon Sales Rank: #4549 in Home Color: green Brand: Bissell Model: 1716B Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 7.40" h x 9.80" w x 18.50" l, 6.95 pounds Continuous suction and brushing to target stains and spots on carpet Motorized dual brush roll Manual spray trigger lets you control cleaning solution Brush cartridge removes for clean-up and maintenance Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging

Amazon.com Traditional vacuums handle dust and dirt, but some spots and stains call for more rigorous measures. The Bissell Spotlifter Powerbrush deep cleaner targets just such problems with powerful rotating brushes and a tank of cleaning solution. During operation, continuous suction ensures that surfaces don’t get too wet and that dirt and stains are sucked up quickly and efficiently. The machine includes a manual spray trigger, so you can decide how much solution to use depending on the surface and the damage. The Spotlifter is a fairly maneuverable appliance--about the same to handle as the average large hand vacuum. Filling and emptying the separate clean and dirty water tanks is notably simple--they just slide off the back end of the machine one at a time. The brush roll cartridge is also removable for easy upkeep or replacement of the brushes. The cleaner comes with an 8-ounce starter bottle of Little Green Cleaning Solution. Bissell also includes a circuit interrupting safety device and a one-year warranty.

By Sandi Hultman We struggled between buying this unit and the comperable Dirt Devil offering, when we saw them at the local discount stores. Liking the stiffer dual-rotating beater-bar style brushes on the Bissell better than the much softer brushes on the spinning disk the Dirt Devil had, we settled on the Bissell. At the store, the only negative factor for the Bissell appeared to be it's one-year warranty, versus the two-years offered with the Dirt Devil. We did not consider a cordless model, presuming they would be less powerful. We also did not consider a model without scrub brushes.I used our new Bissell briefly last night on a couple of recent pet stains, and it did a good job. Today, I used it on all the rest of the pet stains on our light living room carpet, many of which were old. Almost all of them lifted well. The Bissell clean tank will hold a full 8 oz. (3-4 oz. cleaning product and 4 oz. water), compared to the Dirt Devil that only holds a total of 6 oz. It does a decent job of suctioning up liquid. Many with the Dirt Devil seem to complain that it's suction is inadequate, and we did test its suction at the store and agree that it is weak. The manual doesn't document the total clean tank size, how many ounces the "Formula" fill line is at, or how many the "Water" fill line is at, but I measured them. This way I know the proper dilution, if I choose to mix some of the cleaning product into a regular spray bottle for pretreating convenience, without hauling the heavier unit around. (They suggest leaving the pretreat on for 3-5 minutes.)Note that once you've filled the clean tank, if you have a lot left over you do not have to empty it. You can save it for next time. (The disadvantage to doing this is that you would no longer have warm water to help you clean better.)The 20' cord was more than adequate for us to get to the areas we needed to clean. Others complain that the Dirt Devil's cord is too big, but I'm not sure if that means diameter or length. The cord on the Bissell flows nicely. It isn't stiff and doesn't stay too curled up to be able to be used easily. It even had a convenient velcro strap that stays attached, to help you manage the cord for storage. The unit is really easy to fill, operate and clean. Both the clean tank and the dirty tank detach and reattach very easily. Even the beater brush cartridge removes easily for cleaning. It only took me a few minutes to have it ready for storage again. Dirt Devil users complain that reattaching a tank is not always easy. This is not a full size steam cleaner and I don't think it's fair to expect it to behave like one. It's great for the purpose it's designed for. Be sure to vacuum your capet before using it, if you haven't done so recently. This will minimize the amount of hair etc. to clean out of the brushes when you are finished using the Bissell. I did not do this, and it still wasn't bad to clean out the brushes. The unit has a solid and durable feel to it. Dirt Devil users seem to think that unit is flimsey and has an awkward manual solution/water sprayer.I think the product works well and would recommend it over the Dirt Devil. I am happy with it 189 of 190 people found the following review helpful. One powerful little cleaner By Samantha Rupinski I have mostly hardwood in my home, but I do have a little bit of carpet, so I bought one of these for the small spots and spills. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs, so it seems that accidents are a daily occurence. I used this Spotlifter on some old pop stains that have been on the carpet for months, and it got them out no problem. I couldn't believe how well it worked and how dirty the water was that came out of my carpet. It worked so well that I decied to try it on my couch and chair, and it did a great job on them as well. Next stop was my car's interior, which was no small feat. It made my 6 year old minivan look and

Averett I thought I would try this to save some money and to see if this line of household cleaning appliances would work for me. I was ready for cosmetic flaws...I mean who really cares if there is a scrape on their floor cleaner? What I was not ready for, was a unit that just looked like it was thrown in the box and had not been refurbished AT ALL. My main complaint is that the brush heads that were supplied looked like they had been cleaning someones driveway. I've used better looking brush heads on my car wheels. The bottom retension bracket for the power cord was also broken off and was loose in the box...nice work Hoover."Remanufactered: to refurbish (a used product) by renovating and reassembling its components", that is the definition and I feel that Hoover should have never let one of their reman products ship out without NEW brush heads. The brush head is a critical wear item it and it is ludicrous to sell this floor cleaner with the same brush it was returned with. All that said, I give it two stars because it does work and I would buy one again...BUT ONLY NEW. Now I have to waste time trying to glue broken pieces and find a replacement brush head. 60 of 65 people found the following review helpful. Tile flooring? Your life may change with this machine! By T. Call I purchased one of these from another reseller who only sells one item a day for the same price as here a couple of months ago. Had owned a previous model that died a rather early death but loved how it worked. This newer model is much better made, easy to use and clean. I have a large area of the house with ceramic tile and 1/2 inch grout. This machine handles it with ease. It not only vacuums the floors but then readily washes them even down into the grout while picking up the dirty water. You'll be amazed with just how much dirt it picks up. The scrubbing brushes and other parts are easy to take apart for clean up and it only takes a moment to do so.One of the things I like best is the fact that this machine, because of the size of the scrubbing head, will fit right under your cabinet edges to clean that hard to reach area. Many question if they have to use the Hoover floor cleaning product exclusively and through some internet research I've found that Mr Clean works great in this machine. Their new Febreeze scented cleaner does a great job while leaving a not overwhelming scent in the house. My Scooba has been relegated to small area clean ups. 24 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Definitely NOT REMANUFACTURED!!! Poor Quality Control on Hoover's Part. By Crikee 0 STARS !!!The first unit I got had a missing brush and squeegee assembly, the bottom cord hook had stress damage but was not cracked. The replacement unit I received was even worse. The detergent tank had cracks on the locking mechanism, the cord hook was cracked halfway and only 1 plastic peg was holding it in place. I already taped the box for return when I read the first review on this item that mentioned worn out brushes. I took a quick look and was very surprised to see that bristles are no longer straight. My old Floormate brush that was 6 years old had better brushes than this one! These units do not appear to be remanufactured at all. They simply cleaned it and put it back in the box. I'm not reordering another refurb Hoover. The box is too small that the cord hook is touching the box so it is sure to be damaged during shipping. Terrible quality control on Hoover's part.Hoover should put new brushes in their refurbs. The brushes are a wear item and selling you a refurb with brushes more than halfway worn is not a good deal. The box also does not include the detergents.A new 3040 Floormate comes with 2 brushes. One grout brush and the standard hardfloor brush. It also comes with 2 bottles of chemicals. Amazon.com Review No assembly is necessary to put this compact, lightweight vacuum to work washing spills and soil out of carpets and upholstery. By Aaron Contorer If your goal is to remove the occasional spot, and even clean an occasional small piece of upholstered (water-safe) furniture, this machine really really works.I got the Steamvac Jr. to clean up small stains left by my dog, who likes to chew treats on our off-white carpet, and who spends hours each day on our beige sofa. Wow, it really removes the spots! In fact it cleans so well, it actually leaves "clean spots" behind so I have to avoid over-cleaning for fear of drawing attention to the place. I even used the machine to clean a sofa, which is very very time consuming because the machine has a tiny business end, but it did a great job. Don't be misled by the name. This machine does NOT heat water into a blast of steam. It simply sprays on hot tap water (and detergent) that you pour in; then it vacuums it back out, along with the dirt. It's a small, easily carried spray & vac machine -- not a boiler. The machine is offensively loud. It seems to me like the people designing it must not have cared for even a moment how loud it was -- like they weren't even trying to be civil or responsible. Since it takes quite a few minutes to clean a large item (say, a chair) with the teeny little washing head, the noise is a problem. I actually put on hearing protection when operating it for long. But hey, the machine really really works, and it'll pay for itself the first 1-2 times you use it. I'm glad I bought it. Just remember to protect your hearing. 149 of 150 people found the following review helpful. Just small enough... By Diane Rossman The biggest problem in cleaning spots and stains out of furniture and area rugs is lugging around a heavy piece of equipment. This Hoover is small enough to carry with ease and fills simply from the top. It even has a built in mechanism so it can't overflow. I liked its performance overall and found it as good, if not better then other household machines. Of course it seems to work best with the cleaner it came with but since it's an economical product that isn't a problem either. The best feature it has is two separate tanks which means you won't end up cleaning your sofa with dirty water. Overall this product is a good investment and pasys for itself in one use. 66 of 67 people found the following review helpful. Even better than I expected! By S. Hughes Two days after we had brand new carpet installed, my husband spilled paint on the carpet. He tried to clean it up after 4 hours, but it left a crunchy mess. About 5 days later, I received the Steamvac and thought I'd try to get that stain out, that by this point was also trapping dirt. I was amazed that the Steamvac completely removed the stain! I did have to scrub the spot with the bristles on the suction head as the manual suggests doing, but I didn't have to put much muscle into it. I also used VERY hot water, which I'm sure helped. In addition to doing a great job cleaning, there are additional pro's:- The unit is very easy to get ready to use (just add hot water and the detergent that comes with the machine into one opening).-The unit is very light and portable.-The unit seems to be constructed well.-The machine does a great job of sucking up the water from the carpet, leaving it almost dry.My only complaint about the product is that cleaning the machine after using it takes several steps, but I'm sure it will go more quickly the next time. I would highly recommend the Steamvac. See all 94 customer reviews...

By tigreyes2021 I purchased this product because it had such great reviews and, even though the shipping time was great, I hate it and I wish I would've never gotten it. It doesn't work (literally) and never has from day 1. I have a puppy who is destroying my house and desperately needed something. And now I have to deal with return/exchange policies and shipping back ect. It's a Nightmare! Do NOT buy this!!!!! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Horrible, do not buy!!! By wndrwmn67 I bought this Hoover SteamVac because I had one in the past (different model) and thought it would be great. Was I wrong! This model has a clean surge button and when you go to assemble the machine, this button gets jammed and doesn't move at all. The trigger button is impossible to squeeze as it is very hard and makes a horrible squeeking noise. I am returning this product without ever having used it once. I will not ask for a replacement. Also, the plastic of this model is very chintzy and doesn't compare to the older model I had. It is very cheaply made. I would not recommend this one to anyone!!! 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Dissapointed! By Tinytart The machine does not work. What's worse is I can't get much help from the manufacturer. I have spoken to the manufacturer at least four times. Really disappointed! See all 3 customer reviews...

Works well and has a nice fragrance. Hoover detergents are good products, I make it a point to buy these instead of other product lines for my Hoover shampooer-works the best. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Satisfactory By Alfred We used this detergent with a Hoover carpet SteamVac and mixed a capful of detergent in the gallon-tank of very hot water. This did get dirt up and out of our carpet - however much dirt was also left behind. We then pre-treated a similar section of the carpet with Resolve - worked it in with a sponge - and then went over it with the SteamVac and this detergent. Much better results with the Resolve pre-treatment than without.I have nothing bad to say about this detergent...but nothing amazingly good either. Thus, its "average" rating. 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Ok By sayadina2 Well, I have an older dog that has siezures so she can not hold her bladder very well any longer. I keep on top of it with my in home steam cleaner but I usually use a less expensive carpet cleaner. Though no one else would probably notice the stains, I am always looking for the best way to remove the urine and smells.I was expecting superior urine cleaning, being that it is Premium Pet Formula, and a very fresh scent. I do not see any better than Resolve or other urine removers and they smell much nicer when you are finished. Not impressed. Especially for $$. See all 15 customer reviews...

They look almost as good as new with bright colors and they look refreshed. The dirty water tank was pitch black after cleaning the entryway and living room rugs. The carpet upstairs looks good as well. The machine is easy to assemble and simple to operate. My only regret is that I did not buy a model with an attachment. I'm not able to clean the stairs with this. If you do not have stairs, I would recommend this. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Simple but efficient By Mark55 I knew for the price I wasn't going to get bells and whistles. I have 2 cats that do what cats do, hairballs, some easy to clean and some not. So over 5 years at our house, there were memories everywhere that if you looked really close you could see slight spots in the carpet. The machine was easy to use, easy to assemble, and easy to clean up after. The results were very good. We have a short pile type carpet and it looks much better after cleaning. Spots I couldn't get out by hand are gone. The downsides: Apparently there was a document/documents in the discharge tank I was unaware of because when I went to empty the tank it was full of paper debris. Lots of paper debris, big pieces of paper! The lid on the discharge tank is easy to put on wrong, no seal, no suction. And if you forget to put the measuring cup back in the fresh water tank, you have more issues :( My issues seemed to be self inflicted so I didn't hold it against the carpet cleaner. Finally, the day after I cleaned all my carpets, one of my cats spit up in four places. I got the biggest part with paper towels. I filled the carpet cleaner tank 1/4 full with water and detergent and 5 minutes later there were no signs of the accident. Very plussed as it is usually a real pain to clean up their messes! 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Get the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge Instead By Kat If you're going to buy a Carpet Cleaner, you might as well throw down the extra $20-$30 for the Upgraded Model of your carpet cleaner. That said, the Hoover SteamVac Spinscrub is a solid machine, but lacks a lot of the bells and whistles that the Hoover SteamVac with Clean Surge possesses. The Spinscrub has the same brushes and general cleaning power that the SteamVac with Clean Surge has, but lacks the Clean Surge (For more stubborn stains or for high-traffic areas, this SteamVac also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle), the 8 foot hose attachment with stair/upholstery nozzle for cleaning stairs or upholstery, and the many tools that you can use to clean other things besides just the carpet. If you don't have pets or young children, have leather couches, and don't anticipate ever living in a two story house with carpeted stairs, this SteamVac will serve you well. That said, we love our SteamVac. It does a stellar job getting our carpets clean, getting all those random spots out, and because it sucks all liquid off the carpet, it allows for fast dry time. A very minor gripe is that the machine blasts through the water/detergent mix very fast, and doesn't heat the water for you. This isn't a huge problem for us, as we usually have some water heating on the stove while we're cleaning, so by the time we run out of water, the next batch is ready to go. It can also be a hassle to clean out the cleaner, but in comparison to having to rent a carpet cleaning machine, it's well worth the time and hassle. Recommended. See all 24 customer reviews...

Simply scrub your windows with whatever you like (window wash, or my favorite, a dishrag with dish soap) and the machine vacuums away all the water, streak free. It runs on a battery charger, and it is very lightweight which is a great thing. The handle also allows for some extra reach for those tall windows for which you might rather not haul out a chair or stool. Great for quick touchups of bathroom mirror and shower tile as well. Where was this all my life? 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Window cleaning made easier By Dmom This is a tool that will help you get shiny windows faster. I have so far only used industrial strength windex and I like the results. I have read reviews on using regular dish washer detergent or vinegar, too. I have used it on windows and used it only once on a bathroom mirror; couldn't get the corners right. I am happy with the window performance. Some facts: 1) it is important to use the tool from top to down mostly - if you try to use it on a horizontal surface that has significant amount of water you get water coming out from sides - the ventilation holes; a scary sight indeed, but it keeps running afterwards. Do not try to use it immediately if this happens to you too; let it stand for a while. The tank was not even one quarter full when this happened; it looks like the bursting leak is due to the design of tank connection. Keeping the tool upright on its base is a good habit when using this product, 2) There is a warning 'not to use it outdoors; I guess this is related to this issue; although the previous issue came up with regular indoor use - I wouldn't recommend using it outdoors after a rain or on wet surfaces based on potential problems - You are of course going to use it outdoors. Outside of windows is why I purchased this product, and I surely used it outdoors - on the truely problematic side of the windows. I rinsed the windows earlier with the garden hose. The dirty water tank is not large but it is sufficient to easily keep up with a couple large windows. 3) After a couple of uses the rubber will get dirty and leave traces on the surface; you can clean the attachment and try again or just go over the area using your conventional methods - I use a paper towel to go over it a second round especially the corners always need a second round. It still is worth it as it reduces the amount of work you would have to put in to clean windows otherwise. It would be nice to have a secondary attachment so you can use one on clean home surfaces; I could not for instance use it on kitchen counters after cleaning the dirty windows. The attachment comes off for through cleaning; but I would expect the rubber to get distorted if you use harsh chemicals/tools to clean it. This must be the reason why outdoor use is not recommended. I use dish washing detergent and warm water to clean the head attachment. I wouldn't depend on it for that variety of purposes as advertised; you should decide on the most important jobs and stick to it.I would recommend it to those who like streak free windows with less effort. I guess a review after a long term use would be more useful to judge the performance 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I LOVE this tool! By edunn I bought this after seeing it advertised in Australia (I was on vacation...I live in the US). I ADORE this tool! I spray down a window with window cleaner, casually wipe it, spray it again and use the tool. It's spotless with no streaks! I absolutely love it! See all 11 customer reviews...

Lang Hoover Grout Cleaner made my 5 year old travertine grout lines look like new--and trust me I have tried everything. I have natural stone so some uneven areas and I used the product with a grout brush not the Hoover Floor Mate machine which mises 90% of the grout, but does clean rest of floor very well. Grout is tricky. I recommend that you go to Home Depot/Lowes, get the grout brush, and sit on the floor and clean grout lines with this great product like a Marine. Great looking floors now. Highly recommned this product. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Works, but not with the Spin Scrub - get out the grout brush instead By Comdet This works very well in getting grout clean, but I have not had much luck using it with the Hoover Spinscrub. It cleans the floor just as well as the regular hard floor solution, but does not do much on the grout even when I used the grout brush. But, it works very well when you go at it the old fashioned way with some elbow grease and a grout brush. I've used it on both floor and counter tile grout (both gray) and it really does a good job. I dilute it at about a 5-to-1 ratio (5 parts water, one part cleaner) and use a spray bottle to apply it.For really stubborn stains, let it set a bit on the grout then hit it with a steam cleaner. Does a great job and has a decent fresh scent. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Snake Oil By LipSmacker I used this with a grout brush, diluted and full strength. Improvements were marginal at best. I get much better results with baking soda and water with less scrubbing. See all 22 customer reviews...

Carpet Express C4 Remanufactured Carpet Steam Cleaner Like Rug Doctor

his Rug Doctor Style Carpet Cleaner is a 'steam' carpet extractor for cleaning carpet, upholstery, vehicle, RV & boat interiors, plus more. This machine does NOT have a heater. It uses HOT tap water. This machine is made in the USA by Carpet Express® whose principal owner co-founded the Rug Doctor® in 1973. The 33 years of industry experience is evident in the design, quality & dependability that you will notice with this machine. Our Experience with the Carpet Express C4 Low Moisture Machine! When we put this machine out in our rental stores, our customers preferred this low moisture machine over the other brands of carpet cleaners we offered. Some of our stores even requested that we pick the others up! User Serviceable Components The user serviceable components (Pump, Vacuum, Brush Motor), should you need to repair anything after the warranty, are easily accessible from your local vacuum supply store. If not, we are always willing to provide you with reasonably priced replacement items. Should you take a look "under the hood", the first thing you will notice is all the major components are in one convenient location. This puts the vacuum and solution pump, very close to the working area. Powerful Components in better location than the other guys... The main difference in this Carpet Express C4 a Rug Doctor Style Machine, is the vacuum motor location. It is in the bottom of the unit, close to the suction pick-up opening in the front. In some others, it is in the top, alot further from the suction opening, reducing the efficency of the vacuum motor. Therefore, more solution is recovered resulting in a drier fabric with less residue left in the carpet (which encourages faster resoiling). Low Moisture System just works better! Because the low moisture system dispenses less solution to begin with & the vacuum extracts more of that solution ----- you benefit from a carpet that dries sooner & contains less detergent residue, so it stays cleaner, longer.

I had recently rented the Rug Doctor machine and am not sure which one cleans better. The Carpet Express I am quite sure has better suction. After going over an area 3 times it didn't feel any wetter than after the first time. Rug Doctor strongly recommends not going over an area more than twice. I did and the carpet got too wet.CE seems easier to handle that the RD. Pushing it around was less a problem than the RD. It has a rotary brush an opposed to the shaking or vibrating brush on RD. Not sure which brush style cleans better though. Carpet Express seems to remove dirt as well as the Rug Doctor but sucks up more moisture than RD leaving carpets drier. One negative thing, the CE instructions direct you to use the container that collects dirty water to also mix clean water and carpet cleaning detergent. That's like mopping the bathroom floor with a cleaning solution that's in the toilet stool. Not a good idea. Just use a clean bucket. The ideal may be to clean with Rug Doctor and suck up left over moisture with a Carpet Express. Not sure but I am leaning toward the CE as being better than the RD.I have used pro carpet cleaners and don't think they do a better job than renting a RD or CE. If you have the time and don't mind breaking a sweat by all means do it yourself.(Following reviews from another website)Carpet ExpressPros:* Extracted nearly all of the water we put into the carpet swatches.* Best suited for carpets that are exposed to moderate traffic.Cons:* Cleaner may not remove very heavy soils.* Testers said the cleaner was bulky and heavy to push.* The handle isn't height-adjustable; several of our taller testers had to lean forward while using this cleaner. (The one I rented had an adjustable handle like RD)* The unit cleans and extracts the carpet only on the backward stroke, making it difficult to maneuver around a room.* Some controls may not be intuitive, and you may have to ask a sales associate for a complete instruction manual.* Upholstery attachment tools can be used with this cleaner; but they weren't included with the rental. (I rented from Home Depot and attachment tools came free, RugDoctor at Lowes was an extra $3)Rug Doctor Mighty ProPros:* Picked up a significant amount of dirt in Institute tests and should work well on high-traffic areas.* Extracted almost half of the water we put into the carpets.* Controls are easy to understand and use.* Manual is complete and accurate.Cons:* The machine cleans and extracts only on the backward stroke, making it more difficult to maneuver around a room.* Can be heavy to push when filled with water.* The handle moves forward and backward, but doesn't extend up or down; several of our taller testers had to lean forward while using this cleaner.* Solution and water must be mixed in a separate bucket and poured into the tank, which can be messy. Bissell PowerLifter PowerBrush Upright Steam Carpet Cleaner

Powerlifter® Powerbrush Upright Deep Cleaner. The powerful and easy to use full size deep cleaner for carpet and area rugs

Amazon Sales Rank: #6704 in Home Color: Purple Brand: Bissell Model: 1622 Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 44.00" h x 11.00" w x 19.00" l, 12 amp full-size upright carpet cleaner with 4-row rotating DirtLifter PowerBrush Removes deep-down grit and stains using hot tap water and detergent Removable nozzle; lint screen; 2-in-1 water tank for easy filling and emptying Built-in measuring cup; 16-ounce bottle of Fiber Cleansing Formula included Measures 19 by 11 by 44 inches; 1-year limited warranty

Amazon.com Review Dirt is a normal part of a carpet's everyday wear and tear--but that dirt can get ground deep into a rug's fibers every time it's walked on, damaging them permanently. Portable, lightweight, and easy to use, the Bissell PowerLifter PowerBrush Upright Deep Cleaner protects and extends carpet life by removing deep-down grit and stains, using just hot tap water, deep-cleaning detergent, and its four-row rotating DirtLifter PowerBrush. Carpets are left clean, odor-free, even gently groomed for a polished look. The PowerLifter's user-friendly design includes thoughtful touches like a comfortable handle, quick-release cord hooks, a lint screen, and easy-to-maneuver wheels, as well as a built-in measuring cup and a removable nozzle for quick clean up. In addition, the unit's two-in-one water-tank system features a heavy-duty bladder inside for clean water, which empties and mixes with the cleaning formula during operation. The dirty water that gets pulled out of the carpets collects around the outside of the bladder, which means the clean and dirty water never mix. The unit's wide cleaning path covers more ground in less time, while the 20-foot power cord spares users from unplugging and re-plugging when cleaning larger rooms. The PowerLifter is not a steam-cleaning machine, so don't expect the same results that steam can deliver. It is, however, an inexpensive alternative to professional cleaning, without the hassle and expense of carting a rental machine back and forth. The unit comes with a 16-ounce bottle of Fiber Cleansing Formula and a dual-purpose Scotchgard-enhanced detergent that both deep-cleans carpet and protects it from future dirt and stains. The 12 amp full-size upright deep cleaner measures 19 by 11 by 44 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. --Mary Park

So I ran out to rent a carpet cleaner which we needed immediately due to a monster spill. All the rentals were rented out! + It costs $$ to rent. + And who knows whats left over in those machines. So I made the decision to buy one to have in just such an emergency. Great decision. Why buy an expensive Bissell for over $250 when this 1622 Powerlifter Powerbrush can do everything they can. It's got the brushes it's got the power. The only real difference between those models is that they heat up the water for you. Well can't you just pour hot water into the resevoir? Yes you can. And away we go. I made this wise economic puchase some months ago. This machine has proven itself reliable strong and able time after time. The ultimate weapon for all sorts of messes.. . . . .. And yes it cleans alot better that the store rental units. Oh and by the way we did try that little green machine cleaner. For-get-aboudit. 38 of 43 people found the following review helpful. Good cleaner - as long as you don't have dirty carpets! By Ann McCann After three cleanings of two area rugs - I wash them once a month, the nozzles that squirt cleaning solution plugged up. Checking the internet we found that clogged nozzles are a common complaint - and not at all easy to unplug. We called the Bissell company, who put us through some tests (have a screwdriver handy when you call the customer service line!) and recommended we take it to a local repairman. The Bissell- recommended repair person quoted me $89.95 to clean the machine and get it running again. Cleaning and belts are not covered under Bissell's warranty - making the warranty effectively useless. I had had a Bissell with a heater and an upholstery brush that lasted several years. I had hoped that the machine would be more durable without the heater - but I guess not. Now we're in a quandary over what to buy the next time, and I'm depressed over buying a rug cleaner that would only work for three times on two 5x8 area rugs! 24 of 26 people found the following review helpful. very pleased By D. Montano I rely on this little cleaner to keep up with pet stains. I could not be happier. It cleans, it picks up the water nicely, it's quiet and it's an inexpensive option. The water container is easy to operate, it sits right down with a tight seal, it's easy to carry. This is a very nicely designed, inexpensive cleaner. See all 27 customer reviews...

Schnug I bought this item from the HSN but then found it cheaper here on amazon.com (of course, DOH!). This is a perfect tool for cleaning up light spots on the carpet but does not do the same job as a more heavy-duty carpet steam cleaner. The pluses are that you can store it with the soapy water in the canister, and it is light and easy to manuever. I use it mostly to do spot cleaning; for example, cleaning up after my cat's furballs. It is always an event to have to break out the large steam cleaner, but this is an easy tool to grab, use, and return to the closet. The brushes on the bottom of the cleaner do not move (they aren't agitated), which is the norm with the heavy duty steam cleaners; however, I like this feature better for regular use as it will not have as much wear and tear on the carpet. I give this appliance 4 stars out of 5. It is a good supplementary cleaning tool but not a must-have. See all 1 customer reviews...

I have used about every other carpet cleaner on the market and none of them have compared to this one. I have two dogs, three cats, 3 kids and a husband who wont take his shoes off! By the time I got done cleaning the carpets, I just stood in amazement. It looked like i had just put new carpet down. I never write reviews but I had to for this product! 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Nontoxic Carpet Cleaner By J. Harper I have three dogs and a bird. It came time to shampoo my carpet and I didn't want to use a cleaner that gave off any kind of scented fumes or used chemicals the pets might inhale or walk on then unintentionally lick from their paws. I remembered using Simple Green back in the seventies so gave their carpet cleaner a try. It worked great. Cleaned well, the scent was mild. I used it with my Hoover carpet cleaning machine. This is the third time I have purchased it. I also use the regular Simple Green Cleaner around the house now. See all 2 customer reviews...

Hill The Hoover Enhanced Clean Disinfecting Steam Mop works on glazed ceramic tile, sealed hardwood and linoleum flooring. It also "freshens" carpeting, although I'm am unaware of the benefit of steaming carpeting between cleanings, but I guess it would freshen it. Included is a carpet slider to facilitate this action. Reading the instructions is a necessity - particularly whenever mixing liquids and electricity. The Owner's manual is written clearly and is fourteen pages long, including the warranty page. The flooring needs to be well swept and all "gross filth", their words, not mine, must be removed. Sweeping is essential because the small steam vents on the head may become clogged which will affect performance and life expectancy of the unit. The steam mop is lightweight, which is a clear advantage over larger units. It is neatly positioned between a nearly disposable Swifter cleaner and a heavier full size steam cleaner. I tested the unit out on four rooms of glazed ceramic tile - approximately 450 square feet. I vacuumed the tile before beginning and some of the areas, primarily the two entrances into the house, had more ground-in dirt than others. Assembly involved no more than snapping the handle into the base. The unit has two tanks - the solutions tank holds approximately eight ounces of either Hoover's disinfectant or multi-floor cleaning solution while the water tank holds sixteen ounces. There is a replaceable filter for the water side of the device (should last twelve months) but the instructions recommend using distilled water to avoid hard water build-up and to extend the filter life. At the time of this review the unit is new to the market and I couldn't find pricing on the website for the replacement filter. The included eight ounce bottle of Disinfectant solution filled the solutions tank and in cleaning the four rooms, I used virtually the entire bottle. The water tank required one extra filling to do all four rooms -- a pleasant surprise considering the small size of the tank. Two hard surface microfiber pads are included along with one with cut-outs to be used when disinfecting. Select the appropriate pad, lay it on the floor and place the unit on top of it, and a hook and loop (Velcro) system securely attaches the pad. While in use, I tried everything to accidentally disengage the pad and failed. After use, the microfiber pads may be thrown in the washer. It is recommended they be washed in hot water and dried flat. The idea of throwing the pad in the washer didn't appeal to me because at that point it was quite dirty and I couldn't figure out what I would want to wash with it and it is entirely too small to justify running an entire washer load alone. So, I thoroughly washed it in the kitchen sink with the hottest possible water and detergent (then I disinfected the sink.) I plan to order a couple extra pads. They are on the website for around twenty dollars. The steam cleaning process is usually step one and begins almost instantly (within thirty seconds) of pressing the power button. Squeeze the trigger on the handle and steam is released. When finished steam cleaning, and disinfecting is desired, switch the dial on the front from the middle position to high which engages the solutions tank. The time involved in the steam cleaning process will vary based on the condition of the floors. While cleaning, I found the more heavily soiled areas of the tile required going over them up to six times to completely remove all ground in dirt, but the remainder of the floor was done with one or two passes. The power cord is long, approximately 28 feet, so there was no need to repeatedly plug and unplug the cleaner within a large area. The disinfecting step is optional, and if chosen, is the final action - just a couple of quick passes and then the floor needs to air dry to activate the
