Lang Hoover Grout Cleaner made my 5 year old travertine grout lines look like new--and trust me I have tried everything. I have natural stone so some uneven areas and I used the product with a grout brush not the Hoover Floor Mate machine which mises 90% of the grout, but does clean rest of floor very well. Grout is tricky. I recommend that you go to Home Depot/Lowes, get the grout brush, and sit on the floor and clean grout lines with this great product like a Marine. Great looking floors now. Works, but not with the Spin Scrub - get out the grout brush instead By Comdet This works very well in getting grout clean, but I have not had much luck using it with the Hoover Spinscrub. It cleans the floor just as well as the regular hard floor solution, but does not do much on the grout even when I used the grout brush.But, it works very well when you go at it the old fashioned way with some elbow grease and a grout brush. I've used it on both floor and counter tile grout (both gray) and it really does a good job. I dilute it at about a 5-to-1 ratio (5 parts water, one part cleaner) and use a spray bottle to apply it.For really stubborn stains, let it set a bit on the grout then hit it with a steam cleaner. In some others, it is in the top, alot further from the suction opening, reducing the efficency of the vacuum motor. Therefore, more solution is recovered resulting in a drier fabric with less residue left in the carpet (which encourages faster resoiling). Low Moisture System just works better! Because the low moisture system dispenses less solution to begin with & the vacuum extracts more of that solution ----- you benefit from a carpet that dries sooner & contains less detergent residue, so it stays cleaner, longer.

I had recently rented the Rug Doctor machine and am not sure which one cleans better. The Carpet Express I am quite sure has better suction. After going over an area 3 times it didn't feel any wetter than after the first time. Rug Doctor strongly recommends not going over an area more than twice. I did and the carpet got too wet.CE seems easier to handle that the RD. Pushing it around was less a problem than the RD. It has a rotary brush an opposed to the shaking or vibrating brush on RD. Not sure which brush style cleans better though. Carpet Express seems to remove dirt as well as the Rug Doctor but sucks up more moisture than RD leaving carpets drier. One negative thing, the CE instructions direct you to use the container that collects dirty water to also mix clean water and carpet cleaning detergent. That's like mopping the bathroom floor with a cleaning solution that's in the toilet stool. Not a good idea. Just use a clean bucket.The ideal may be to clean with Rug Doctor and suck up left over moisture with a Carpet Express. Not sure but I am leaning toward the CE as being better than the RD.I have used pro carpet cleaners and don't think they do a better job than renting a RD or CE. So I ran out to rent a carpet cleaner which we needed immediately due to a monster spill. All the rentals were rented out! + It costs $$ to rent. + And who knows whats left over in those machines. So I made the decision to buy one to have in just such an emergency. Great decision. Why buy an expensive Bissell for over $250 when this 1622 Powerlifter Powerbrush can do everything they can. It's got the brushes it's got the power. The only real difference between those models is that they heat up the water for you. Well can't you just pour hot water into the resevoir? Yes you can. And away we go. I made this wise economic puchase some months ago. This machine has proven itself reliable strong and able time after time. The ultimate weapon for all sorts of messes.. . . . .. Good cleaner - as long as you don't have dirty carpets! By Ann McCann After three cleanings of two area rugs - I wash them once a month, the nozzles that squirt cleaning solution plugged up. Checking the internet we found that clogged nozzles are a common complaint - and not at all easy to unplug. We called the Bissell company, who put us through some tests (have a screwdriver handy when you call the customer service line!) and recommended we take it to a local repairman.The Bissell- recommended repair person quoted me $89.95 to clean the machine and get it running again. Cleaning and belts are not covered under Bissell's warranty - making the warranty effectively useless. I had had a Bissell with a heater and an upholstery brush that lasted several years. I had hoped that the machine would be more durable without the heater - but I guess not. Schnug I bought this item from the HSN but then found it cheaper here on amazon.com (of course, DOH!). This is a perfect tool for cleaning up light spots on the carpet but does not do the same job as a more heavy-duty carpet steam cleaner. The pluses are that you can store it with the soapy water in the canister, and it is light and easy to manuever. I use it mostly to do spot cleaning; for example, cleaning up after my cat's furballs. It is always an event to have to break out the large steam cleaner, but this is an easy tool to grab, use, and return to the closet. The brushes on the bottom of the cleaner do not move (they aren't agitated), which is the norm with the heavy duty steam cleaners; however, I like this feature better for regular use as it will not have as much wear and tear on the carpet. I give this appliance 4 stars out of 5. It is a good supplementary cleaning tool but not a must-have. See all 1 customer reviews...

I have used about every other carpet cleaner on the market and none of them have compared to this one. I have two dogs, three cats, 3 kids and a husband who wont take his shoes off! It came time to shampoo my carpet and I didn't want to use a cleaner that gave off any kind of scented fumes or used chemicals the pets might inhale or walk on then unintentionally lick from their paws. I remembered using Simple Green back in the seventies so gave their carpet cleaner a try. It worked great. Cleaned well, the scent was mild. I used it with my Hoover carpet cleaning machine.
