Very good machine, if your new machine LEAK, see note 2 below. I'm just amazed at how many people write that their machine was leaking one day, and they returned to him. It will leak if you go a crucial step for one time set-up. Paid $ 170 at Best Buy. This is my first carpet cleaner so I have nothing to compare with my own expectations, except. Although the name is SteamVac, like all others in this class of cleaning products, there is no steam on. That's just false marketing, but all manufacturers do it, so no special knock on Hoover. Let me first say that I am ashamed to admit that our carpet was not cleaned in four years, and we live in the country where much dirt is kept out. So it was pretty darn dirty carpet. The Hoover F5914-900 has a very good job the first time I used - a noticeable difference in the appearance of the carpet dramatically. The water reservoir of dirty water was black. Will he back the carpet to new condition? No, impossible. It took another treatment or two to get really clean? Yes, that's the price we pay for ignoring wet cleaning of the carpet for years one of the best features of this cleaner is the ability to dry the carpet very well.
